Moving to Jacksonville

Welcome to Jacksonville

Nestled in Northeast Florida, Jacksonville is a vibrant hub for the Southeast. Conveniently located at the crossroads of I-10 and I-95, it’s easy to reach by car. The scenic St. Johns River flows right through the city, and the beautiful Atlantic Ocean lies just to the east.

In 1968, Jacksonville consolidated with Duval County to become the largest city by land area in the contiguous United States (Juneau, Alaska is still bigger!).

Residents love the mild weather and the easy access to pristine beaches and natural springs throughout the region.

Jacksonville truly has something for everyone. Families, sun-seekers, surfers, and boaters all cherish the stunning beaches. The Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens is a favorite destination for both kids and adults. Music lovers look forward to the annual Jacksonville Jazz Festival, which draws world-class talent from around the globe. Art enthusiasts enjoy several excellent museums, while readers appreciate the well-stocked public libraries found throughout the city. Community theater and the FSCJ Artist Series bring wonderful live performances right here at home.

There’s a genuine Southern warmth and hospitality that makes Jacksonville feel welcoming the moment you arrive. Its relaxed, laid-back spirit is wonderfully easy to settle into.

If you’re visiting from out of town, plan to spend some time exploring everything Jacksonville has to offer. It’s a diverse, engaging, and genuinely enjoyable place to call home. Renting a car is a good idea — there’s a lot worth discovering.

Even though Jacksonville is a large city, Jacksonville Country Day School is conveniently located and easy to reach from I-95, I-295, and Butler Boulevard. Our campus at 10063 Baymeadows Road in the Southside neighborhood is just minutes from the Beaches, Downtown, Mandarin, and Ponte Vedra. We’re also close to major employers such as Mayo Clinic, Baptist Medical Center, St. Vincent’s Southside, Deutsche Bank, Merrill Lynch, Florida Blue, and Johnson & Johnson.

The U.S. News & World Report has ranked Jacksonville as the 14th Best Big City to Live in the nation. They cited the lower-than-average cost of living and better-than-average job market as some of the positive attributes of our city.
