Welcome to Jacksonville

Jacksonville is located in Northeast Florida and is a major hub for the Southeast United States. Sitting on the intersection of I-10 and I-95, Jacksonville has easy access by automobile. The Saint Johns River flows directly through the city, and the Atlantic Ocean lies to the east.

In 1968, the city of Jacksonville consolidated with Duval County, creating the largest city in landmass in the contiguous United States. (Juneau, Alaska is larger.)

Residents enjoy the mild weather and proximity to the beaches and natural springs found in our region.

There are plenty of activities available in Jacksonville for almost any interest. The beaches are beautiful and beloved by sun lovers, surfers, and boaters. The Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens is a popular spot for kids and adults.

The annual Jazz Festival attracts musical talent from around the globe. Several museums showcase works of art from master artists. Well-stocked public libraries are located throughout the city. Community theater and the FSCJ Artist Series bring live performances to Jacksonville audiences.

Jacksonville exudes that classic Southern charm and hospitality. Its laid-back nature is an easy mindset to slip into.

If you are from out of town, plan to spend some time exploring the varied offerings that make Jacksonville a diverse, engaging, entertaining, and easy place to call home. Make sure to rent a car — you have some distance to cover.

While the city is large, Jacksonville Country Day School is easily accessible from I-95, I-295, and Butler Boulevard. This makes it easy to reach our campus from the Beaches, Downtown, Mandarin, and our home neighborhood of Southside where we are located at 10063 Baymeadows Road.

JCDS is within a few minute's drive of Downtown or Ponte Vedra in addition to Mayo Clinic, Baptist Medical Center, St. Vincent's Southside, DeutscheBank, Merrill Lynch, Florida Blue, Johnson & Johnson, and other large and locally owned businesses.

The U.S. News and World Report has ranked Jacksonville as the 56th Best Place to Live in the nation. They cited the lower-than-average cost of living and lower-than-average crime rate as some of the positive attributes of our city.
