In October, third-graders went full bee-mode with a live hive talk from two expert beekeepers.
Ms. Carol McBride and Ms. Cathy Johnson of the Jacksonville Beekeepers Association arrived on campus equipped with a real observation hive with live bees buzzing behind glass, honey straw swag, and some mind-blowing bee facts!
The students were captivated by the presentation and took copious notes (an important skill). Some students had detailed sketches in their notebooks as well.
"We know the right stuff to write down," said third-grader Liya A. "Not just everything...the important stuff."
That is college-level thinking!
At the end of the presentation, each Shark was given a honey straw—a mini liquid tube of sunshine. What a sweet ending!
